Getting Started with StudyPulse

This guide walks you through creating your classroom, getting students logged in, and assigning your first question set.

Step 1: Create Your Organisation & Classroom

  1. After signing up as a teacher, you'll create an organisation (this is your billing unit if you upgrade to premium)
  2. Within your organisation, create a classroom: - Give it a name (e.g., "Year 12 Physics 2025") - Select the primary subject - Choose the year level

You can create multiple classrooms for different classes or subjects.

Step 2: Get Students Logged In

Students can log in two ways:

  • Students click "Sign in with Google" using their school Google account
  • Their account is created automatically
  • No passwords to remember or reset

Option 2: Email & Password

  • Students create an account with their email address
  • They'll receive a 6-digit verification code by email
  • They set their own password
  • They can reset it later if they forget

Important: If your school uses Google Workspace for Education, using Google sign-in is the easiest option.

Step 3: Add Students to Your Classroom

Students are added to your classroom via CSV import. Contact your administrator for assistance with importing students.

Step 4: Create Your First Question Set

A question set is an assignment with multiple questions.

  1. Go to "Question Sets" in your classroom
  2. Click "Create New Question Set"
  3. Add a title and description
  4. Add questions one by one: - Multiple Choice: Add options and mark which one is correct - Written Response: Set the max marks and provide marking criteria
  5. Set a release date (when students can access it)
  6. Set a due date (deadline)
  7. Publish the question set

Students will see the question set appear in their dashboard when the release date arrives.

Step 5: What Students Will Do

Once students log in and join your classroom:

  1. They'll see assigned question sets on their dashboard
  2. They can work through questions and submit answers
  3. Multiple choice questions are marked instantly
  4. Written answers get AI-generated feedback with marks and suggestions
  5. They can use the AI tutor chatbot if they get stuck (100 messages per day)

Step 6: Monitor Progress

You can check: - Which students have started/completed the question set - Individual scores on each question - Overall performance across your class - View individual student submissions and feedback

See the Analytics Guide for details.

Common Questions

Q: What if students lose their password? A: They can use the "Forgot Password" link on the login page to get a reset link by email.

Q: How many questions should I put in a question set? A: Start with 5-10 questions for a typical homework assignment. You can create as many question sets as you need.

Q: Do I need to mark written answers manually? A: No, the AI marks them automatically and provides feedback. You can review the AI's marking if you want to check specific submissions.
