Tracking Student Progress

StudyPulse shows you which students are completing assignments, their scores, and where they need help.

Question Set Overview

For each question set you assign, you can see:

  • Number of students assigned - Total students in the classroom
  • Not Started - Students who haven't opened the assignment yet
  • In Progress - Students who've started but haven't finished
  • Awaiting Review - Students who've submitted written answers waiting for AI feedback
  • Graded - Students who've received all their feedback
  • Completed - Students who've finished all questions

This gives you a quick snapshot of who's keeping up and who might need a reminder.

Student-by-Student Performance

Click into any question set to see detailed results:

  • Student names with their total score out of max marks
  • Question-by-question scores for each student
  • Number of questions answered by each student
  • Completion status for each individual

You can sort by: - Student name - Total score (to see highest/lowest performers) - Completion date

Viewing Individual Submissions

Click on a student's name to see:

  • All their submissions across all question sets
  • Each answer they submitted (written text or selected multiple choice)
  • Scores received on each question
  • AI feedback provided on written answers
  • Timestamps showing when they submitted and when feedback was given

This is useful when: - A student asks for help on a specific question - You want to understand why they got a particular mark - You're checking if the AI marking seems fair - You need to discuss their progress in a meeting

What the Status Indicators Mean

  • Not Started: Student hasn't clicked on the question set yet
  • Submitted: Answer has been sent but not yet marked (brief state)
  • Graded: Written answer has received AI feedback with marks
  • Awaiting Review: Written answer is being processed by AI (usually quick)

Multiple choice questions are marked instantly, so you won't see "awaiting review" for those.

Using Analytics to Support Students

Who Needs a Reminder?

Look at students in "Not Started" status after a few days. They might need: - A reminder about the due date - Help accessing their account - Clarification about the assignment

Who's Struggling?

Students with low scores across multiple questions might benefit from: - Encouragement to use the AI tutor chatbot - Extra support in class on that topic - A follow-up conversation about what they're finding difficult

Who's Excelling?

Students consistently scoring well might be ready for: - Extension questions or harder material - Helping explain concepts to peers - Recognition for their consistent effort

The focus is on assignment completion and performance, not detailed activity monitoring.

Tips for Regular Check-ins

Weekly: Glance at completion rates to see if most students are keeping up

Before Due Dates: Check "Not Started" list and send reminders

After Due Dates: Review scores to plan what to reteach or reinforce in class

One-on-One: Pull up individual submission history when meeting with students about their progress
