Q5 Mathematical Methods Application of intergration Unit 4 - AOS 3

Question 5

5 marks

A water tank is being filled such that the rate of change of its volume, $V$ (in litres), with respect to time, $t$ (in minutes), is given by $\frac{dV}{dt} = 5te^{-0.1t}$. Initially, the tank is empty. Determine the time at which the average volume of water in the tank from $t=0$ to that time is equal to half the instantaneous volume at that time. Give your answer correct to three decimal places.
